A sensory way of reconnecting with our wild terroir, learning to trust our intuitive instincts and gut feelings.
A year’s Natural Medicine journey with Neal’s Yard in 2004-5 taught me the fundamentals of herbal medicine, essential oils, flower essences, homeopathy and TCM.
Crafting herbal remedies, flower essences and essential oil blends ever since.
An herbal apprenticeship with Jennifer Costa of the Eldermoon School of Herbs and Earth Medicine has provided a deep exploration of Plant Spirit Medicine, the indigenous way of kinship, of relating with plants, trees, and fungi.
Diploma in Herbology, Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) 2023-25. Deepened my understanding of the botany and pharmacology of the plants, trees, fungi, lichens, seaweeds, etc., that I find around Jersey.
Both schools have encouraged me to grow my own herbs. In 2004, I created a Physic Garden, which I am expanding this year on land amid Green Lanes on the east of the island.
I combine my passion for natural plant medicines and foods with a wild sensory approach to getting to know our local plants, trees and flowers. This involves using our 5 outer senses as well as our inner senses, gut feelings for example, to seek out and recognise the herbs that call to us. Herbs (all plants, trees, etc.,) are our teachers in the wild, waiting for us to reconnect and remember the old ways of living. Join me to explore and discover what our local terroir has to offer.
I am a trained Cordon Bleu cook, and like to include foraged herbs, berries, nuts, seeds and other fruit in the preparation of wild and vibrant botanical foods and medicines whenever possible.
