Why intuitive? A sensory way of reconnecting with our wild terroir, and learning to trust our instincts and gut feelings.
A year’s Natural Medicine journey with Neal’s Yard in 2004-5 taught me the fundamentals of herbal medicine, essential oils, flower essences, homeopathy and TCM. During a practical session to create a perfume with 3 essential oils, I was told that I had a ‘nose’ for blending scents.
I’ve made my own remedies, flower essences and essential oil blends over the years since then.
More recently, I’ve been delving deeper into herbal medicine with Jennifer Costa of the Eldermoon School of Herbs and Earth Medicine.
I combine my passion for natural plant medicines and foods with a wild sensory approach to getting to know our local plants, trees and flowers. This involves using our 5 outer senses and our inner senses, gut feelings for example, to seek out and recognise the herbs that attract us. Herbs (all plants, trees, etc.,) are our teachers in the wild, waiting for us to reconnect and remember the old ways of living. Join me to explore and discover what our local terroir has to offer.
I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Herbology with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh to deepen my understanding of the botany and pharmacology of the plants, trees, fungi, lichens, seaweeds, etc., that I find around Jersey.
I am also a trained Cordon Bleu cook, and like to include foraged herbs, berries, nuts, seeds and other fruit in the preparation of wild and vibrant botanical foods and medicines whenever possible.
A freshly, baked cake and foraged herbal tea infusion is offered at the completion of every guided Wild Sensory Foraging session.
